After 3 deaths, Ikea recalls millions of dangerous dressers

The law firm of Lytal, Reiter, Smith, Ivey & Fronrath is always trying to keep you informed and safe by passing along important information on current manufacturer recalls.

Ikea has issued a recall for at least 27 million chests and dressers that can easily tip over onto children, injuring or killing them. The furniture giant said Monday that after the three deaths of three children it is no longer selling its "Malm" series products because they "could be a danger," Ikea USA president Lars Peterson told NBC News. "Please take them out of the room," Peterson said, adding that customers are eligible for a free repair kit to anchor the furniture to a ll. Refunds are available.

This product image provided by Ikea shows a Malm 6-drawer dresser. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), in cooperation with IKEA North America, is announcing a repair program that includes a free wall anchoring kit, for their Malm 3- and 4-drawer chests and two styles of Malm 6- drawer chests, and other chests and dressers. The chests and dressers can pose a tip-over hazard if not securely anchored to the wall.

If you or a loved one have been injured due to a defective product, automotive defect or medical devise, call the trial attorneys at Lytal, Reiter, Smith, Ivey & Fronrath located in West Palm Beach, Florida at 561-655-1990.  The call and the case evaluation are FREE.
