West Palm Beach Firm Case Gets National Attention:
Man Adopts Girlfriend, John Goodman Case
Attorney Scott Smith represents the father of Scott Patrick Wilson in a civil case against International Polo Club founder John Goodman. On February 12, 2010 Mr. and Mrs. Wilson suffered the worst loss of all, that being death of a child. 23-year-old Scott Patrick Wilson was killed when Goodman ran a stop sign and hit Wilson’s car, sending it into a nearby canal.
The case has garnered national attention this week when news broke that John Goodman adopted his 42-year-old girlfriend. “By way of this adoption John Goodman has effectively gained ownership and/or direct control of 1/3 of the trust assets. It cannot go unrecognized that he chose to adopt his 42 year old adult girlfriend as opposed to a minor child,” said attorney Scott B. Smith of Lytal, Reiter, Smith, Ivey & Fronrath.
