Tire Failure

Tires that are not installed properly can cause devastating rollover accidents, often resulting in serious injuries or fatalities. The National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports that tire failures including blow-outs, tread and belt separation and improper repairs cause more than 8,000 serious traffic accidents every year.

Many tire manufacturers have issued major recalls because of certain defects. LRCF&W is believed to be the first in the country to convince a court to allow punitive damages were against Ford and Firestone as a result of the nationwide recall of ATX and Wilderness Tires.

The product liability attorneys from our firm have handled hundreds of defective tire cases throughout Florida and the United States. Major tire manufacturers have unlimited resources and often deny that they’ve manufactured a defective tire. Very few law firms can match their experience and resources when litigating against them in these types of cases. The Florida product liability lawyers at Lytal, Reiter, Clark, Fountain and Williams have the experience and resources to match these corporate giants in court. We’ve successfully handled cases against nearly every tire manufacturer in the world including:

  • Bridgestone Firestone
  • Continental Tire
  • Dunlop
  • General Tire Corporation
  • Goodyear
  • Kelly Springfield
  • Michelin
  • Sumitomo Rubber Industries
  • Uniroyal Goodrich
  • Cooper

LRCF&W strives to hold tire manufacturers responsible for providing safe tires to the public. In 2002, Goodyear recalled 200,000 tires thanks in part to evidence our firm provided to the National Highway Transportation and Safety Administration (NHTSA).

As a result of our litigation against Ford and Firestone, the American Association for Justice publicly acknowledged our firm with the Steven T. Sharp Public Service Award for "contributing toward a safer, more just America."

LRCF&W encourages our clients and consumers to check your tires regularly to make sure they are safe. To properly inflate tires, consumers should follow the manufacturer’s limits which can usually be found on the drivers-side door. You should also follow the maintenance guidelines and have your tires rotated and balanced as needed.
