Unfortunately, a 15-year-old girl was hurt in a shooting that took place shortly after a fireworks display ended around 9:30 p.m. on July 4. The incident took place in the 1000 block of 10th Street at Tamarind Avenue, which is less than two miles from where the fireworks show was held.

Details of the incident are still being looked into by authorities, but it became apparent that the girl was not intentionally or specifically targeted by the perpetrator. The girl suffered a serious injury as a result of a wound in her upper body. One positive sign is that she remained conscious as she was being taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center.

The police’s search for the individual or individuals involved in this matter continues, but it seems like they were looking to inflict harm on another person and hit the teenage girl by mistake. They reportedly fled the scene via an alleyway between 9th Street and 10th Street.

Remnants left at the scene also indicated that multiple rounds were fired.

A police spokesman also seemed to imply that people present at the location when authorities arrived were less than helpful when it came to providing information. It will be interesting to see if any of those individuals were connected with the crime as the investigation unfolds.
