A crash in the 2000 block of North Congress Avenue left Sariyah Robertson dead and two teenagers injured. The incident occurred overnight on December 18.
Robertson was one of two passengers in a 2005 Hyundai Sonata driven by a 17-year-old. The car slammed into a concrete light pole which toppled onto the car. Robertson was sitting in the rear of the car on the passenger’s side when the pole came crashing down.
The two surviving teenagers said that a pickup truck was driving the wrong way in the northbound lanes of Congress Avenue, which prompted the teenage driver to take immediate action.
The pickup truck allegedly stopped briefly before driving south on Congress Avenue.
