man killed in fiery crash in fort myers

A vehicle driven by a 24-year-old man ended up tangled between two trees in the median before bursting into flames. The unfortunate conclusion occurred in the early morning hours of March 18.

Before the dramatic inferno, the car veered off Ben Hill Griffin Parkway onto the shoulder and sidewalk. It returned onto the road, eventually crashing into a sign and two trees.

The collisions took place between Alico Road and Terminal Access Road.

Florida Highway Patrol is currently investigating the incident. Currently, there is no explanation for the driver or car losing control. One trooper estimated they would be at the scene all day as they looked for answers.

As authorities unpacked the situation, southbound lanes partially reopened for the morning commute, but northbound lanes remained closed.
