On the afternoon of January 8, 98-year-old George Fortier was walking near a curve in the road of Summer Tree Drive when he was struck by a 2010 GLK 350 Mercedes driven by 86-year-old George Rullman.
Upon impact, Fortier’s body careened into the air, landing viciously on the road. He was rushed to Delray Medical Center and was pronounced dead about three hours after the accident.
It’s unclear where Fortier was positioned when Pullman’s vehicle hit him, whether that was on the road with the right of way or an adjacent sidewalk.
Pullman was not hurt in the episode and stayed at the accident scene to speak with the police.
