The community is mourning the passing of 73-year-old Hatizhe Laiqi who died in a hit-and-run during the late afternoon hours of November 10.
She was crossing the street at South Ocean Boulevard when a GMC Terrain crashed into her. Laiqi was launched onto the pavement, with her body coming to rest on the roadway’s shoulder.
Laiqi was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
The driver of the Terrain sped away, headed north on South Ocean Boulevard.
After a few days, it seems like the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office may be getting closer to finding the person who hit Laiqi. They reportedly found the Terrain on November 13, and it’s currently in the possession of the sheriff’s office.
Details about whether the driver had been apprehended have not yet been made public.
