A motorcycle crash in the early morning hours of February 5 claimed the life of 18-year-old Ismael Tancher Ajiquichi. The incident occurred at 5701 Belvedere Road.
Ajiquichi was on his 2016 Kawasaki Ninja, trailing another motorcycle rider on a 2017 bike version. The pair was heading westbound as they neared the intersection of Westchester Drive.
The driver of the 2017 Kawasaki unexpectedly slowed down, and Ajiquichi could not slow down in time to avoid a collision. Both riders were launched into the air.
Ajiquichi was pronounced dead at the accident scene by Palm Beach County Fire Rescue.
The rider of the 2017 Kawasaki was transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center with what were described as minor injuries. Reports indicate that it was the 2017 Kawasaki rider’s 20th birthday during the date of the accident.
Information about why the lead rider slowed down has not been made public.
