Details of the OCTROT Heated Blanket Recall
The recalled products include OCTROT-branded sherpa heated throws and blankets available in multiple colors, including:
- Gray and yellow
- White with gray
- White with yellow
- White with blue
- White with red
The products were sold in five sizes:
- 50 inches by 62 inches
- 50 inches by 60 inches
- 62 inches by 84 inches
- 64 inches by 84 inches
- 84 inches by 90 inches
The recalled heated throws and blankets have a white controller with five temperature settings. The controller cord has either two or four small holes at the lower connection point where it connects to the controller.
The affected model numbers include:
- OCT-5060
- OCT-5062
- OCT-6248
- OCT-7284
- OCT-8490
The brand name and model number are printed on the product packaging. The products were sold online through Amazon.com for approximately $40 to $60 and were manufactured in China by Hangzhouyuefangjiajuyongpinyouxiangongsi, doing business as OCTROT.
Reports of Melting, Fires, and Injuries
According to the recall notice, OCTROT has received 555 reports of the recalled blankets or throws melting, sparking, and smoking. These incidents resulted in 27 fires and 15 burn or electrical shock injuries.
Electrical products that overheat or malfunction can create significant safety risks for consumers. Heated blankets and throws are designed to provide warmth through electrical components, but defects that cause overheating or electrical failures may lead to fires, burns, and other injuries.

- Unplug the electrical cord from the blanket or throw
- Cut the electrical cord in half
- Take a photo showing the destroyed product and cut cord
- Send the photo to OctrotRecall@gmail.com
- Dispose of the destroyed product
Consumers should also keep any documentation related to the purchase, recall communications, and any injuries or damages connected to the product.
