Police couldn’t afford to waste a moment in the early morning hours of April 9, as a 39-year-old man had been shot and killed outside of Harper’s Pub. The body was found lying on the road on SE Greendon Avenue.

Authorities arrived at the scene quickly and observed a motorcycle darting away from the location. Officers tried to get the driver of the motorcycle to pull over, but the individual attempted to flee the area.

A chase ensued into Martin County and finally ended on SW Citrus Boulevard. 25-year-old Elijah Inchauteguiz was eventually taken into custody, and arrested on charges of murder, fleeing, and eluding.

Even though the investigation is still in its early stages, authorities feel confident that the incident was done intentionally. The identity of the man who was killed near the bar has not yet been released to the public.

It’s not known at this time whether or not Inchauteguiz and the deceased individual had a relationship prior to April 9, or what the former’s motive might have been. Anyone with potentially valuable information is encouraged to call Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers.
