three hospitalized in police chase crash

A high-speed chase involving an SUV and Ford Lauderdale police officers during the early morning hours of December 10 left three injured and one taken into custody.

Authorities spotted the SUV in the 1400 block of Northeast 62nd Street in Fort Lauderdale and identified it as a vehicle connected with a felony in Hendry County.

Noticing the police presence, the driver put the pedal to the metal to avoid them.

The pursuit concluded dramatically when the SUV smashed into a concrete power pole.

Three people in the SUV were transported to North Broward Hospital. Their ailments are described as non-life threatening.

The public has yet to be made aware of the nature of the charges that Fort Lauderdale police believe the driver committed at a prior date.
