Drivers on I-75 South experienced a grim reality on the morning of September 5. A box truck turned over, damaging the guard rail on the right-hand side of the road.
This incident took place around 35 miles from the Collier County toll booth and was anticipated to impact traffic starting at the 64-mile marker on Alligator Alley. Anyone heading east towards Broward County is advised to take an alternative route to their destination.
This stretch of road doesn’t appear to have more than two lanes, and authorities closed down the lane where the truck collided with the railing. All oncoming traffic is being forced to merge into one left lane, which has really slowed things down.
The truck was moving produce and animal-related products. It doesn’t appear as if the contents in the back of the truck have spilled out onto the road itself.
The investigation as to what led up to the single-vehicle crash is still ongoing. In this situation, it is fair to consider various factors such as toxicology reports, the alertness of the driver, and potential mechanical issues with the truck itself.
Injuries have not been reported, nor has the identity of the driver been confirmed at this juncture.
Lytal, Reiter, Smith, Ivey & Fronrath hopes that the driver is healthy coming out of this accident and that the structural integrity of the road is stable for future traffic. We can be reached at (561) 655-1990 to discuss car accidents that you or your loved ones are involved in.
