A driver and passenger were killed in a fiery crash after their vehicle hit a tree early Sunday morning. Officers in Port St. Lucie responded to the single-vehicle crash at Rosser Blvd and Paar Drive around 4:40 a.m. on July 16.

A preliminary investigation found that the white Mercedes was traveling south on Rosser Blvd when, for reasons currently unknown, the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree.

The vehicle was fully engulfed in flames when the police and fire departments arrived at the scene. Units from St. Lucie County Fire District extinguished the fire and found the driver and passenger dead.

The identities of the deceased are not yet revealed. The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact Traffic Homicide Investigator Appelbaum at (772) 871-5001.
