An 81-year-old man died early April 15 in a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 in St. Lucie County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Authorities said the man was driving a Nissan Sentra northbound in the southbound lanes when he collided with a Honda sedan just south of Indrio Road. Both he and the Honda’s driver were pronounced dead at the scene. A tractor-trailer then hit the Honda, and both vehicles caught fire.
A passenger in the Honda sustained incapacitating injuries, and the 21-year-old driver of the tractor-trailer suffered non-incapacitating injuries, officials said.
A witness, Nelson Miranda, told WPTV.com, “At that moment, I was just shook, in shock. It could’ve been me. If that truck didn’t move out of the way, I would’ve hit that car.”
