Unfortunately, an incident during the evening hours of October 15 in Fort Meyers left a man in a wheelchair dead. The somber event took place at the intersection of Winkler Avenue and Colonial Boulevard just after 11:20 p.m.

Destin Soododzian witnessed the incident unfold and said that the driver of a black SUV exited their car to try and help the man who was struck in the wheelchair.

Despite good intentions, the man in the wheelchair was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the man has not yet been revealed, nor has the name of the SUV driver.
