A fatal crash on Interstate 95 Wednesday morning forced the closure of all southbound lanes in Melbourne, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers reported that the crash occurred around 7:51 a.m. near mile marker 183, close to West Eau Gallie Boulevard. One person was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a preliminary statement from FHP.
FHP announced on social media that southbound traffic was diverted several miles north at Exit 189, the Pineda Causeway.
