What Is Business Interruption Insurance, What Does it Cover?

Business interruption insurance, which also may be called business income insurance, replaces lost income and amounts paid for bills and payroll in the event of a disaster that forces the business to close or reduce operations. Policies traditionally cover, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Profits lost which normally would have been earned
  • Fixed costs, such as operating expenses
  • Moving costs if the business is required to move to a temporary location
