On Thursday evening, May 15, a high-speed pursuit in Palm Beach Gardens culminated in a crash and a prolonged struggle between the suspect and law enforcement.

Around 7 p.m., Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) troopers observed a Mercedes SUV traveling at 100 mph, weaving through traffic on northbound I-95 near Donald Ross Road. The driver, identified as 27-year-old Vincent Bell of Deerfield Beach, exited the interstate, ran a red light, and collided with a Tesla.

Despite the crash, Bell continued driving until his vehicle became disabled on the southbound I-95 entrance ramp. When troopers attempted to arrest him, Bell resisted, leading to a five-minute altercation. A taser was deployed, but Bell continued to struggle. Two good Samaritans intervened, assisting troopers in subduing and arresting Bell.

Both Bell and the Tesla driver sustained injuries and were transported to Jupiter Medical Center. A search of Bell’s vehicle revealed marijuana, which he was prohibited from possessing due to probation. Bell faces multiple charges, including resisting an officer with violence, battery on a law enforcement officer, hit-and-run, fleeing police, reckless driving, and possession of marijuana.
