A red SUV crashed into a canal near Sunshine Boulevard North and 55th Street West in Lehigh Acres during the evening of September 9, resulting in one fatality. Florida Highway Patrol reports that a 47-year-old man lost control while driving south on Sunshine Boulevard, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and into the water. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the accident. The identity of the deceased has not been publicly released.
