A widespread traffic signal malfunction disrupted traffic Wednesday evening at one of Palm Beach County’s busiest intersections: Military Trail and Blue Heron Boulevard.
According to Florida 511, the signals in all four directions — Military Trail northbound and southbound, and Blue Heron Boulevard eastbound and westbound — began malfunctioning around 4:57 p.m. The issue was last updated at 5 p.m., just as the evening commute intensified.
Drivers reported erratic light cycles and unclear right-of-way signals, creating confusion and heavy congestion. Despite the traffic tie-ups, no accidents were reported at the time of the update.
Photos from the scene showed long lines of cars as motorists navigated the malfunctioning intersection. Crews have since resolved the issue, restoring normal signal operations and easing traffic flow.
