Almost nothing can prepare a person for the type of horrifying scene at Jensen Beach on September 15 when a vehicle smashed plowed into the Premier Physical Therapy office on Northeast Jensen Beach Boulevard.

Several people were treated for injuries after the harrowing incident took place, but Martin County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Ezekiel “Zeke” Spence sustained serious injuries when the car lodged him against some exercise equipment in the facility.

As a respected member of the community and his department, there are a lot of people rooting for Deputy Spence’s speedy and full recovery, including his wife and three children.

“These are just one of the most inexplicable tragedies that’s impossible to make sense of. He’s a former combat United States Marine veteran. He’s been on the job serving for his community for years now,” Sheriff William Snyder said. Via CW34.com

Preliminary results of the investigation have determined that the 59-year-old driver of the car’s foot slipped off the brake pedal. There weren’t any indications that drugs or alcohol were involved in the accident.

Deputy Spence was in the clinic rehabilitating some knee injuries he sustained while apprehending a suspect in an earlier assignment. We hope that he’s able to fully recover after this tragic event.
