As seasoned veterans of the South Florida scene, it’s understood that water is a part of our lives more so than most other places throughout the country.
However, there are some not-so-pleasant things that can take place due to so much water, and residents should take that into consideration. This can come into play with water sports and activities, but also with how we drive on our roads. There’s more of a likelihood that we can end up in a body of water in a high-speed motor vehicle accident.
Information about the circumstances that led up to the event is still forthcoming, but a car crashed into a canal near Baywinds Boulevard and Clipper Circle in the early morning hours of November 30. It’s unclear what type of car plummeted into the canal, or if there was anyone still in the vehicle as it descended.
Unfortunately for rescue crews, the car is not immediately visible by helicopter, which means that the depths of the canal will have to be thoroughly probed for valuable information. The surrounding areas of land will also be reviewed, as tire skid marks were located heading into the canal.
It’s unclear exactly when the car may have plunged into the canal, but the vehicle was found just before sunrise that day. A lack of visibility on the driver’s part could have been a factor in the incident.
