man struck killed by tri rail train

A man who has yet to be identified was struck and killed by a Tri-Rail train in Delray Beach on the morning of February 26. The man, who was reported to be homeless, was present on the tracks as the southbound Tri-Rail train sped forward.

The crash took place in the 3300 block of South Congress Avenue, between the Boca Raton and Delray Beach stations. According to a spokesman from Delray Beach police, street traffic was not affected as a result of this incident. 

At the time of the accident, train number 667 had 60 passengers aboard. The train was delayed as authorities arrived at the scene to process what had taken place. 

In order to facilitate travel between the two stations while this was taking place, a temporary bus bridge was created.

Tri-Rail trains operate on holiday schedules with hourly service. They utilize CSX’s railroad tracks, which are also used by Amtrak and freight trains.
