deputy injured in prisoner transport vehicle collision

In Pompano Beach, two Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) prisoner transport vehicles carrying 52 inmates collided. At approximately 5:31 in the morning, Broward County Regional Communications received a notification about an injury-involved crash near the intersection of West Atlantic Boulevard and North Andrews Avenue in Pompano Beach.

According to investigators, the collision included two Broward Sheriff’s Office Prisoner Transport vehicles and a civilian car. Prompt responses from BSO deputies and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue ensued. A BSO deputy was subsequently transported to a nearby hospital by paramedics for the treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Fortunately, no other injuries were reported; as a precaution, seven prisoners were taken to a nearby hospital for medical clearance.

Detectives from BSO Pompano Beach District are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding this ongoing incident.
