killed in motorcycle crash

Shortly after 2 a.m. on April 1, 47-year-old John Hosfeld lost his life in a crash that took place on the 5400 block of Okeechobee Boulevard. He was heading westbound on his 2016 Suzuki motorcycle.

Authorities say that Hosfeld’s motorcycle was heading towards a Honda Civic being driven by 32-year-old Michael Vargas. The car ahead of the Civic was another Honda, an Accord being driven by 41-year-old Mohammed Zahangir.

According to reports, the motorcycle was switching lanes aggressively. Hosfeld’s bike appeared in the Civic’s path without much warning and the car struck the motorcycle.

This prompted Hosfeld to be violently ejected from the motorcycle. He was later pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

It’s not clear whether Hosfeld was wearing a helmet at the time, or whether that helmet was approved by the DOT.

The drivers of the Accord and the Civic were not injured in the incident, nor were any other parties based on the relevant information.
